Frequently asked questions
What is the Pomodoro method?
The Pomodoro method alternates focused work sessions (25 minutes by default) with short breaks (5 minutes), plus a longer break every 4 sessions. The idea: short, regular efforts concentrate better than one blurry multi-hour stretch. SeventyFocus applies this switch automatically, so you never have to watch the clock.
Can I change the 25 and 5 minute durations?
Yes. Settings offer several durations for work, short break and long break, plus the number of sessions before the long break. Change them once, they apply to every session after that.
Does the app send me system notifications?
No. When a phase ends, SeventyFocus shows a small discreet panel for 3 seconds at the top of the screen, and plays a short sound if enabled, without going through Notification Center or interrupting what you're doing.
When does the session counter reset?
The count of finished sessions resets every day at midnight. It's just there so you can see your rhythm for the day at a glance: nothing is sent or kept beyond your Mac.
What's the difference between the website version and the App Store one?
It's the same app. On this website: a free 7-day trial, then a 6.90 CHF one-time license with automatic updates. On the App Store: direct purchase, updates through Apple. Pick whichever suits you.
